Cristina: (Running into the kitchen with digital pregnancy test in hand. Eyes wide, mouth hanging open in awkward smile, nodding ferociously.)Were we happy? Extremely! Were we surprised? Definitely! Today we are 9 weeks pregnant exactly and happier than we were the moment we found out.
Kurt: (Video Gmail chatting with Kenny. Eyes popped out of his head and he turned a slight shade of pale.)
Kenny: Whoa Kurt, you look like you just saw a ghost!
Kurt: Ah-ah-ah...Cristina's making faces at me. I gotta go!
Cristina: We're pregnant!
Kurt: Really? Are you sure?
Cristina: Yes! There's no "maybe pregnant" option.
Kurt: Ohmygosh!
Cristina: Ohmygosh!
(Lots of hugging, happiness, and shock.)
While Kurt is not feeling any physical symptoms of pregnancy, I have probably displaced some of mine on him. For example, weeks 5 and 6 I turned into who we call The Hulk. I was irritable and anything would set me off. Like when I was cleaning the house and he's eating a chocolate milk shake and watching TV while telling me not to forget to clean up his clothes in the closet. He was lucky he still had his head attached after that!
Then there are the physical pains of my body changing. He felt it too when he had to shovel 15 inches of heavy snow off the driveway and deck, by himself, because pregnant me shouldn't be doing work like that (ok, I probably could have helped but Kurt's big heart told me to stay inside and relax). I know for a fact he was feeling the pain from that day!
So far I think it's been an enjoyable ride for both of us. My irritability level has dropped and I haven't experienced any morning sickness. Other than being very tired by 8:00pm and some intense cravings, things are fairly normal so far. I hope to keep you all posted on the pregnancy, the good, the bad, and maybe some funnies along the way.
