Let's Get This Party Started!

This past weekend Kurt and I went up north for our friend Bud and Katie's wedding, along with some family time, and some R&R. We quickly decided this was our last long distance trip in the car. I was having some major Braxton Hicks (BH) contractions on the car ride up north and also when we were coming home yesterday. I'd say for 2 of the 3 hours I was having BH contractions, not to mention I was extremely restless and uncomfortable the whole time. And not just little BH contractions, long ones that were just plain uncomfortable. And to top it off, yesterday I'd not only get BH contractions but at the end of a contraction it felt like our little Riglee was punching the bottom of my uterus to get out. It was really the icing on the cake. We decided that I will definitely not go without an epidural when real labor comes.

So, dear Riglee, let's get this party started! It is time to work your way down so we can have you born early (not a week late like I was)! Even today the BH contractions that I have are stronger than they were before. I think my body is definitely starting to prepare for labor and honestly, I intend to do everything I can to help it along. Thor and I will be taking walks every night that it's nice out and Sara and I will walk when we do dinner together. Kurt has his own role to play but no one wants to hear about that!

Alright, I'm not evicting her.....more like giving her notice!

This week will be the week to get things done. Tonight I will be washing clothes, blankets, and sheets. Tomorrow we will go shopping to get the last few items that we need before Riglee comes, and on Wednesday I'd like to finish setting up Riglee's room. I think we'll install the carseat this week, put together all the fun baby stuff (swing, bouncer, etc) and pack our hospital bags (ours and Riglee's). All of a sudden I'm nervous that she's going to come early and we won't be ready. Of course, we're probably doing all this prep and she'll actually come a week or two late but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry as they say!

  1. I've been doing those last minute things little by little...better safe than sorry.

And totally feel you on the car rides - I am so uncomfortable for them!

  2. I'm with you on the epidural--I used to think I could maybe go without it, but every day I get more and more uncomfortable--why NOT do something to ease the pain?!
